Classroom Parties and Food
Classroom Parties
At GLC, we enjoy honoring important events, including birthdays, but also understand that our most important priority is student learning. Therefore, our celebrations will center on activities that support teaching and learning. If you would like to recognize your child’s birthday, we encourage you to bring an item for the classroom, such as a book (signed and dated by your child) or other classroom supplies (such as pencils, erasers, etc.). Because of the growing number of students with food allergies and other health concerns, some of our classrooms are food-free classrooms. If you would like to recognize your child in class, please make contact with your child’s teacher several days in advance to determine an appropriate activity.
Classroom Food
Food allergies are a growing concern in schools across America. A major health issue such as this must be taken very seriously, and it is the policy of this school to make the safety and well-being of our students our top priority. Therefore, we ask parents to check with teachers prior to bringing food to the classroom for any purpose. Candy is discouraged in all classrooms.
