School Site Council SSC
The School Site Council (SSC) consists of parents, teachers, classified staff, and the principal. Officers are elected for 2-year cycles and meet six (6) times each year. All SSC meetings are open to the public.
Officers and Duties
- Chairperson - Preside at all meetings; Sign all communication; Prepare agenda with SSC members; Perform all duties incidental to the office and as prescribed
- Vice-chairperson - Represent the chairperson; Substitute for the chairperson in his/her absence; Perform other duties as assigned
- Secretary - Keep minutes; Transmit copies of minutes; Provide notices; Keep register and records; Keep bylaws; Perform other duties as assigned
- District Advisory Council (DAC) representative - Attend DAC meetings; Report to SSC about DAC meetings; Perform other duties as assigned
Roles and Responsibilities
CA Education Code requires school site councils to:
- Measure effectiveness of improvement strategies at the school
- Seek input from school advisory committees
- Reaffirm or revise school goals
- Revise improvement strategies and expenditures
- Recommend the approved single plan for student achievement (SPSA) to the governing board
- Monitor implementation of the SPSA
- Provide input on District LCAP
- Provide input on school allocated LCAP fund expenditures
